Bright colors in the fall
I havn't been doing much shopping lately because we are supposed to be saving for our new house in Lincoln. But, I happened to stop by Dillards the other day when they had just put a bunch of their Antoni Melani items on sale for 70% off, that almost NEVER happens. All of the good stuff is gone by the time I get there most of the time. So here is how I wore one of the jackets, that is probably meant for the summer time. But, I think bright colors should be worn year round!
I wore this Antonio Melani tweed jacket with a super soft Antonio Melani knit dress, black Calvin Klein tights (via ebay), and red patent leather Nine West pumps. I also added a red belt to keep the jacket cinched in.

Baby Shower III
So I have now had 3 baby showers. Two of them were via Skype, one with my dad's side of the family and the other with my mom's. It was cool but sort of strange at the same time! I really enjoyed being able to see all my family and thank them for all their cute little gifts for my little one. Today my friends Michelle and Gosia organised a baby shower in town for me. It was at the Buttercup Cafe which I'd never been to before. It was lovely! We played a 'name the celebrity kid' game along with guessing the weight and due date of the baby. We'll have to wait and see who wins that one! :D We ended the gathering with me blindfolded trying to guess different baby food flavours. I got 2 1/2 out of 4 right. Some of them were so gross! I brought them home and Hubbs was only able to get 1 1/2 right so at least I beat him ha ha!
My wonderful friends who were able to make it to the event!

Happy Thanksgiving AND Things I'm enjoying about Fall - Pumpkin butter
Happy Thanksgiving everyone! Shea Babe, I hope that you managed to find some pumpkin puree for some pumpkin pie. In honor of the lovely taste of pumpkin I decided to share the recipe for Pumpkin Butter which has been part of my morning breakfast routine the last month or two.
I am so Thankful that our plans have worked out so that I am actually in the SAME CITY as my husband every night. I know that many people have it much worse when their spouse is serving overseas. In many countries in the Middle East and Asia spouses actually work in different countries permanently! So living without my Joshy from Monday morning through Thursday night really wasn't too bad. But I just hated feeling like we were not a part of each other's every day lives. It is SO much better now. I am really thanking the Lord for every lovely comment, snuggling, or other memory we are enjoying together.
What are you thankful for? I had a friend that did "Days of Thanksgiving" on facebook. She put up one thing she was thankful for each day. It was really cute. I'm going to have to try and remember to do that next year?

I am also thankful for fall!
I don't really like milk very much, so I have started having toast in the mornings. The sugary jam got a bit old after awhile. So I moved on to apple butter. Then one of the blogs I read, Eat Yourself Skinny, had a recipe for Pumpkin Butter and I decided to give it a try. I accidentally purchased Libby's Pumpkin Pie mix rather than pureed pumpkin so I decided to go with it the first time I made pumpkin butter. The second time I made it I tried the pureed pumpkin that the recipe calls for the second time. I liked the pumpkin butter MUCH better with the Libby's Pumpkin Pie mix. Here is my pumpkin butter recipe adapted from Eat Yourself Skinny:
1 29 oz can of Libby's Pumpkin Pie Mix
1 cup brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp Pumpkin Pie mix (that has cloves, ginger, nutmeg, and allspice)
Combine all of these ingredients over medium/high heat. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat to a simmer. It is so tasty!
My husband and I are on the way to Aspen for some fun Thanksgiving times. We brought his parents along to celebrate the holidays. I'll have to put a few pics up here when we return!

Gearin' Up for Turkey Day!
I wish I got today off from work to start preparing for Thanksgiving but unfortunately I now live in a country that doesn't celebrate it! I am lucky enough to be able to take tomorrow off though so at least I still get to cook up a nice dinner for my Hubby and some friends. We did the shopping for our feast tonight! This year I am recruiting a friend to help me cook since I'm feeling a little more tired this year than I did last year (for a very good reason though!). So, I hope you all have a lovely Thanksgiving and enjoy the holiday!! :D

Things I'm enjoying about fall - Apple Cider
There are a few things I LOVE about fall, one of those is apple cider. This year I tried something new to make my cider have that extra bit of taste and depth that I find at some holiday parties. I have been taking "mulling" spice that you can find at stores like Trader Joe's and putting it in my cider. I then microwave it, or put it in a pan and let it boil. You can then use a strainer to strain out the bits of goodness, but I've been leaving them in lately. They just end up in the bottom of the cup! The mulling spice seems to add those extra flavors that fancy ciders have in them.

Diamonds in the rough
My new job is in the suburbs. I love the people I am working with, but the location is less than ideal for taking outfit photos! However, I came across this beautiful lake and waterfall not long ago. This is literally right next to a huge intersection, quite the diamond in the rough ;).
I wore a J. Crew dress, Jones NY tweed jacket, grey Vera Wang from Kohl's tights, and Nine West leopard print pumps. For accessories I wore a long gold chain with gold irregular round stones on it from Premier. My belt is from Chico's via ebay.
And, a big thank you to the company who built this lovely lake and waterfall in the middle of the Lincoln, Nebraska suburbs, Campbell's Garden Center!

Bring on the Weekend!
I had hoped for a better picture from the front. My hair is a bit mad but it will have to do. This is a maternity top I bought from New Look. They have a small maternity wear section but it has some really lovely things in it! Pretty cheap too which is always a plus :D I am getting things all sorted out with work and taking leave so I have been quite busy and I think this will continue until I'm finished on the 15th. The week is halfway over and I can't wait for the weekend when I'll be selling my handmade knitwear and jewellery at a bar boot sale (like a craft market but in a bar) then having a Skype baby shower with my dad's side of the family!

Dressin' It Up
We had a social night at work so I got a little more dressed up than I do normally. I bought this dress before I started showing and was happy it still looked good with the bump. I didn't realise it was so see through at the bottom though so finding a lace slip to go underneath was a bit of a challenge. It just meant I had to monitor whether or not it was peeking out too much! I got the dress at TK Maxx which is the same as TJ Maxx in the US..I'm not sure why they changed the name though! It was only 16euros so I was delighted when I found it in my size :D Enjoy your weekend!

Boyscouts are cool!
Tonight was a busy one! I attended a continuing education event after work, had dinner at the event, then I went to a fundraiser for the Boyscouts of Nebraska. One of my new bosses is on the board. His son is on the way to becoming an Eagle Scout. I got to taste some really great affordable wines. I have to say that the Barefoot white zinfandel champagne was my favorite! It's pink...as most good things are :o).
I took a few pictures this morning when my camera was very cold...and not cooperating well. I took a few more tonight before bed, and I apparently had already taken off my belt! That's what a wine tasting will do to you I guess.

A Few Blue Pieces
Hmm...I don't have too much to say about this outfit. It is very casual (maybe even too casual for work) and I just wasn't feeling like putting much effort into an amazing outfit. I like the colour of the necklace a lot which is why I was drawn to it even though it is plastic and not stone and pretty cheaply made. I had a 'bump' picture but I was making an odd face so I didn't post it!

First post from Lincoln
Now that I am living and working in Lincoln, I have found a few good photo spots. This fall weather is killing me though with the super cool mornings that warm up in the afternoon. It was a bit chilly for these photos! I wore tan pans with an Express white button down and Liz Claireborn vest. I added a navy J. Crew blazer for work. For accessories I wore pearl studs and a necklace with pearls in bunches that was a gift.
After work I attended a reception at Union College here in Lincoln for a renowned sculptor, Victor Issa. I had the pleasure of meeting him. He emigrated from Lebanon and attended Union College and took art classes at University of Nebraska. My favorites were the fairies and the one of Christ's second coming.

Groovy Baby!
This is a dress I got at Penneys. I felt a bit like I was wearing a 70s costume all day but everyone who saw me complimented the outfit! The dress has big bell sleeves too which just adds to the nostalgia look. I'm not too sure I'm sold on it (at least it wasn't expensive so no great loss if I never wear it again!)...what do you think?

Transitioning to fall
This outfit is from last week in Wichita. Forgive me if it takes me a few days to find new picture locations in Lincoln!
I think it is fun to use summery pieces but help them transition to fall. I wore a very summery print dress with a brown Banana Republic jacket, very dark tights from Kohl's, and bright pink Nine West pumps. I also added a chico's belt with gold detail and a Premier necklace.
Do you think I achieved my fall transition look?
