Fabulous Friday

Once again, it is time to play "Give it a Miss, Give it a Go or Give it to Me" where I'll post pics of celeb outfits and you can tell me whether you wouldn't wear it (give it a miss), like it and might wear it (give it a go) or love it and want it (give it to me).

Warmer weather

Life has been crazy lately...so I neglected to post this outfit from slightly warmer times.  I wore a silk J. Crew patterned skirt with a white button down from Talbots.  I'm not normally a fan of button-downs, but this one is a bit more fun with the ruffles down the buttons.  I paired the look with my Cole Haan strappy shoes.

Fall is here!

It was 52 degrees on my way to work today!  I wore an abstract print dress from Macy's and a black cardigan sweater from Penny's (purchased in Ireland when I was there for Shea's wedding!).  I belted the outfit to give it some shape.  I wore Nine West pumps with some detail to finish the outfit.

Let's Get Physical

Went to a Fancy Dress 80's Themed party on Saturday. It was a good night and I couldn't believe the amount of effort that went into the costumes! Watching 'Teen Wolf' sing Sweet Caroline during karaoke was a highlight :D This costume cost me less than 30 euros and is way better than any of the pre-made ones I could find..most of the pieces are from Penneys.
And here's a little something I've been thinking about lately...Happy Monday! :D

Grr...Floral Print

Okay so I wasn't super happy when I took these pics. It was a slightly stressful day at work and I was just fed up by the time I got home :( Everyone loved this dress. The girl behind the counter at the bank asked me where I got it and was so happy it was from the high street and not expensive! That's always a good thing in my book too :D

Lovely Day for a Wedding

This should have been last Saturday's post but I just now got the pics from my camera onto the laptop. We went to Dave's friends' wedding and it was so nice not to be involved in the ceremony now that I'm bigger! We got to just enjoy everything. I hadn't worn this dress to anything yet and surprisingly it fit really well despite the fact I bought it before I got prego..think I probably would have really needed a smaller size if I was my normal shape. The pics of the outfit are a little dark unfortunately I didn't have time to take them before we left so this was at 12.30am when I got home! Enjoy your weekend!

Indian Outfits

My husband's family is from India.  His father was back there not long ago and he brought me this fun tunic top that I wore to church on Sunday.  I'm not sure what to wear as pants with it!  It's a bit short for leggings.  Let me know if you have some ideas!  I wore the tunic top with Calvin Klein jeans and gold sandals.

Sunday we had the traditional celebration of "Onam" which is kind of like Thanksgiving in India.  They celebrate the bountiful harvest.  We have much to be thankful for, despite the bad growing conditions this year.  On the ground in front of me you can see the exciting display of flowers that they put up for several days to celebrate.  The metal thing has oil in it which they light.  Wikipedia had a slightly different explanation of Onam than what my family gave.  Wikipedia says that "is a festival celebrated by the people of KeralaIndia. It falls during the month of Chingam (August–September) and marks the homecoming of the legendary Emperor Mahabali. The festival lasts for ten days and is linked to many elements of Kerala's culture and tradition. Intricate flower carpets, elaborate banquet lunch, snake boat races, Puli Kali, and the Kaikottikkali dance all play a part in the festival. And it can be undoubtedly said that these elements constitute the diversity, colorfulness and richness that no other festival can claim."  My husband's family is Christian - Catholic and has been for generations.  This festival definitely has some hindu traditions intertwined.  I know this festival has more cultural than religious significance.

This outfit was given to my by my husband's cousin.

Rain Rain Go Away

Rainy weather forced me inside for this pic (don't let the sunshine in the background fool you!). This is a funny top because I like it a lot when the sleeves are pushed up to 3/4 length but I think it looks odd when they are down all the way. It is good for layering and I tend to do that a lot so until I find a better replacement, it will stay in the mix!

Silky goodness

We have had wonderful weather for a few days.  I decided to urge Fall to come faster by wearing some tweed and a sleeveless turtleneck.  Luckily the turtleneck was a light silky fabric that could breathe as the day got hotter.  The flower detail is a fun touch.  I also wore creme boot let pants from Victoria's Secret and a pink Gap tweed jacket.

Out in the Garden

I'm not too sure about this little tunic. It is quite comfy but I'm not sure it really does anything great for me. And the little keyhole in the front is a bit revealing so I always have to wear a top underneath it. This is our garden! I'm excited to get some colourful flowers in there and brighten it up but it is just so nice to have the space :D
The next pic is a bit dark but you can see the little baby bump (and our cat Chloe enjoying the garden)!

Sunny + neutral

I have been rediscovery items in my closet lately.  I wore one of my favorite standbys - the J. Crew silk blouse with my green tweed Jones N.Y. Blazer.  This time I paired them with a tan pencil skirt from Banana Republic with my nude colored Aerosoles pumps.

A Girlie Dress

I just LOVE the poufy skirt of this dress!! I feel soo girlie in it. It has some tulle netting to help puff it out and it surprisingly isn't scratchy or uncomfortable. Thanks to my larger bust I had to cover up the top part to keep from looking like a harlot but I think it still worked well. I wanted to go 'no leggings' but the weather wouldn't allow it. This is the last outfit pic from the old apartment. Say goodbye to the background--it won't show up again (unless maybe I'm rooting around in old pics someday).

Brown eyed girl

I wear dresses all the time.  It has become a new challenge to give them a different look.  I decided to try giving this brown silk patterned sheath dress a new look with a brown J. Crew cardigan.  I LOVE the little bee buttons on the cardigan.  I thought the outfit needed some color so I added a red skinny belt and red patent pumps from Nine West.  I loved the gold accents together.  I really need to get a (fake) gold watch at some point to match better ;).  For accessories I wore a gold leaf necklace and round earrings that mirrored the round belt buckle.

Fancy accessories

I actually won one of those blog giveaways not too long ago through Adored Austin.  I won a $40 gift certificate to InPink.  They really do have adorable things.  I bought the necklace and earring set that I wore the today.

I decided that because they were free I would take a risk.  I love the glam nature of them, but they were a bit less "tailored" that I am used to.

I thought it was fun to wear the set with some stripes today.  I wore a black and tan striped cardigan with striped pencil pans and a light pink sleeveless blouse with knot detail.  I also got a new Cannon Rebel camera!  They were having an amazing rebate deal on amazon.com that my husband found.  It captures so much more light than my Sony.  I did not have to add any light to these pictures at all.  I normally have to add highlights or light to my pics.

If you're at all interested, this set is still available on InPink's website here.  It is called the

"LARIAT CHAIN NECKLACE AND EARRING SET WITH FACETED LUCITE."
