Green with Envy

The high was a relatively cool 97 degrees.  Relatively...because it has been over 103 almost every day this week!  Here is another silk dress.  This is a green Antonio Melani dress with a black patent leather belt, snake skin Milley wedges from Scarpasa.  I added a Banana Republic black and white patterned jacket for work.  Thankfully we had a good thunderstorm this afternoon, so hopefully things will start to cool off soon!

Sorry to be lame and talk so much about the weather....I'm just quite jealous of the cool weather that Shea is blessed with!

It Starts...

This is the first thing I have purchased since I found out I was pregnant. It was pretty cheap and is really comfy. Not sure if you can see them but the pattern is little white birds and it zips up the front. I really love the ruffle detailing too. I was hoping that I would be able to 'save' it after I lose the weight by taking it in on the seams but have since been advised to forget that train of thought and just resign myself to the fact that my maternity clothes are only good for a limited time! Hmm...I'll hold out hope; it's too cute!

Fabulous Friday

Once again, it is time to play "Give it a Miss, Give it a Go or Give it to Me" where I'll post pics of celeb outfits and you can tell me whether you wouldn't wear it (give it a miss), like it and might wear it (give it a go) or love it and want it (give it to me).

Here is this week's contender...Abigail Spencer! All pics taken fromGo Fug Yourself and you should check out that site too...very witty stuff!

Silky patterns

We have had such high temperatures lately that I cannot imagine wearing anything but silk dresses.  I tried a silk patterned one yesterday with some red accents for a fun new twist.  I paired the dress from Macy's with Nine West red kitten heels and a red leather belt from ebay.  It was so bright out that you can't really tell that there is a yellow gold circle that is the belt buckle.  I loved that it kind of matched my J. Crew strings of pearls.

Booby-licious

I apologize for the risque title....I just realized as I edited my pictures I realized that my outfit was a bit saucier than I intended.  Somehow the pencil skirt + ruffled shirt brought too much attention to the ladies.  I probably won't be wearing this ensemble again.

My husband found these shoes and I thought they were a bit odd with the unconventional peep toe shape.  I did like the nude color and comfort that Aerosoles shoes provide.

I wore a brown tweed pencil skirt by BCX from Macy's and a ruffled button down by Elle from Kohl's finished off with a printed cardigan by Merona from Target.

Music Monday

Ugh...unfortunately today it's just Music. I don't work on Mondays and I was feeling a bit sluggish so I wore my pjs all day...and you don't really need to see a pic of that! Trying my best to finish the first book in the Game of Thrones series but it is taking much longer than I had hoped it would! We are looking at houses and trying to find someplace that ticks all the right boxes for us--house hunting is a tough job! Hopefully something will come along soon though..fingers crossed like!

Historic Midtown

I wore a red and black polka dot Banana Republic silk tank with a wide leather belt and Express pencil skirt.  I added Nine West gold linen wedges to pick up on the yellow around the polka dots.  I added my medallion that I purchased for $5 from Tuesday morning for some fun bling.

A Hint of Blue

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with this dress. I got it at Warehouse which usually carries a good selection of day dresses (and evening dresses too) but it is a tiny bit on the expensive side. They only had a size 12 left in this dress (pre-prego I was a size 8-10) so it was slightly too big particularly in the shoulder and bust areas. I had my mother-in-law nip in the shoulders and that seemed to fix the problem. I really like the shape of this dress when it's on...the skirt is really full. The issue I have with it is that sometimes it lays really oddly on my chest because it is still a bit too big there (even with my now bigger bust!). Still, I am a fan of the basic black that works well and looks good! Oh and my hair is definitely much better down than up here!

Back to the 30 for 30...

The other day I wore a J. Crew ruffled blouse with a J. Crew pleated skirt with my Cole Haan heels and J. Crew pearls.  For work I added a Banana Republic blazer.  We have had over 100 degree highs every day here for the last week or so.  Silk was ideal for such heat!

I wore my J. Crew chambray dress with new accessories.  I wore grey pearls from Premier Jewelry and Nine West polka dotted wedges.  For work I added a Jones NY tweed jacket.

Karen Kane

I have heard much about the great American designer Karen Kane.  I really enjoyed hearing about her company through her interview with Angie at the YouLookFab blog.  Her company is all about having as much of the work creating and building their pieces done in the U.S. as they can.  She has lovely dresses and other pretty affordable pieces.  I finally found one for a good price on ebay!

I wore two strings of J. Crew pearls with the dress for some fun texture and bling!

I loved the V shaped back of this dress. Unfortunately my pic came out a bit blurry!

A Welcome Return

Ahhhhh...it's been AGES since I posted up an outfit! Things have been so crazy here lately and then we took a holiday and well you know how it goes. But...now it's back to reality. This post is packed full of stuff...outfits, music and some happy news!

Our holiday to Kansas and Vegas was awesome! So many wonderful memories tied into probably one of the worst travel experiences I've EVER had. But oh well. My birthday was on Saturday too so I was treated to a lovely brunch and a new phone! I have been holding off saying anything for a while but the jig is up...we are having a baby in January and I'm so excited!!!! :D I must say though that lately shopping has not been super fun since I've started to gain weight and things are laying differently on my shape than they used to!
Dress: Vera Moda, Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins, Leggings: Next, Boots: Penneys, Belt: New Look
Top: Urban Outfitters, Cardigan: Dorothy Perkins, Jeans: VB Rock & Republic, Shoes: Dunnes
And I was finally MADE to throw away my Dunnes black flats after being told they were disgusting and smelly (both true but dammit they were comfy and I have been unable to find a suitable replacement so far!).

And of course here are some tunes from the UO Blog

Here is this week's contender...Emma Watson! To celebrate the last Harry Potter movie (which I saw tonight and loved) here's a pic of Rupert, Daniel and Emma together. All pics taken from Go Fug Yourself and you should check out that site too...very witty stuff!
So, what do you think and are you sad to see the end of HP?

Back to the 30 for 30

Today I was back to the 30 for 30 hosted by Kendi Everyday.  Today I wore my Apostrophe dress from the Pretty Penny blog shop.  This time I wore it with a white belt actually from an the navy Antonio Melani blazer that I paired it with.  I wore my pink Nine West pumps.

Vegas!

Sorry for a bit of blog silence there.  It's been busy getting caught up with life and work!

Shea and I had a FABULOUS time in Vegas. A large part of the fabulousness for me was just spending time with her though :o).  Here we are at the Cesar's Palace "Forum Shops".  The place is like a lovely jail.  So many ridiculously expensive shops and you can't get out!  You have to walk through the WHOLE thing to get to the strip.  I wore a tie-dyed XXI dress from Forever 21 and grey bedazzled flips from Kenneth Cole via Macy's.

I have to admit that they have some pretty amazing statutes around Cesar's Palace.

I wore this to the show Ka...one of the Cirque Du Soleil shows that was pretty amazing.  This dress is from Mod Cloth by TCEC.

Here are Shea and I in front of a water fall in the Venetian/Palazzo shops.  I was wearing a J. Crew T-Shirt and white J. Crew jean shorts.

We also made it over to Madame Tussaud's.

We didn't really gamble much....but I COULD NOT resist this Sex and The City slot machine.  I lost $1.

Here we are on the last night :o(.  We did find a restaurant called Batista's behind The Flamingo.  It was GREAT food.  For a flat price you get your on-tray, bread, all the wine you can drink (red or white house wine), AND cappuccino.  I wore an Express jean jacket over a top from Arizona Trading Company in Lawrence, Kansas made by a local designer ( a label that says "My Nemesis" is on the back) with white J. Crew jean shorts.

We also visited "Old Las Vegas" on Fremont Street the last night.  It was actually quite fun with live music.

And yes, in case you were wondering, those ARE fried Oreos in my hand.  They were amazing!

The END :o).

Weekend Off of the Re-Mix & Scarf Swap

As I mentioned when I started the 30 for 30 Re-mix, I planned to take off the days when I would be traveling to Las Vegas with Shea.  Joshy and I are actually heading out tonight and will spend the 4th of July (and the 5th) at the Grand Canyon!

I have some Elle wedges that I have been meaning to try out.  I have been giving them a test drive this weekend before we leave.  On Saturday I had errands to run.  I decided to try out the scarf that the lovely Jessica from A Day in the Life of One Girl swapped with me for the scarf swap organized by Jessie at The Concrete Catwalk!

I love the bright colors and geometric patterns!  I'll definitely have to pair it with another dress soon.  I wore a black dress with the scarf around my waist and Elle wedges.

Today was another rainy day in Wichita.  I'm getting ready to travel.  I used to always travel in jeans and was not  huge fan of dresses. Over the last few years I have realized the comfort and ease of wearing a dress.  I wear them most days now.  I have now even started traveling in them!  This is what I plan to wear this evening even as we travel to Las Vegas.  I'll pair this with a jacket in case I get cold!  I'm thinking of a jean jacket or a flowy black light weight sweater.  What do you wear while traveling?
