Boho
SHEA UPDATE: All went well and baby was born. I'm going to let her share more about it when she's ready :o).
I have only embraced the "boho" look in the last year. Bohemian means living without regard to conventional rules in one sense. To me it means finding simplicity in life and appreciating the beauty in the world around us in little details. The other day I wore this dress from Plato's Closet, a grey cardigan from Ross, black tights, a black turtleneck, and black leather boots.
In keeping with the "boho" theme I thought I would share a picture I took recently of a very tasty snow pea I was eating. The light shone through it in such a lovely way! It is amazing to me the intricacy of even the simplest parts of our world.

Weekend look
On the weekends comfort is key. I wish I could run around in leggings and shirts, but I'm just not that confident outside of my own house. I purchased this Blu Heaven dress not long ago at Plato's closet. I love the soft knit and the fun crochet back. This will be great in the summer. For now, it makes my legging look more appropriate ;). I also wore it with a grey cardigan I purchased at Ross' in Ireland when I was there for Shea's wedding!
I apologize for the tired look...this was early in the morning.

Spinach-Tortellini Soup
In the winter time I love having soup for dinner. It's especially great if it's homemade, and easy to make. I used this recipe and had great results. I used free range/organic chicken broth and frozen spinach that had been thawed out. You just add diced tomatoes and pre-made tortellini. I have had good results using the pre-made fancy Italian kind of pastas stuffed with cheese and sausage. At Hy-Vee in Lincoln they had another brand, called V's. It was frozen, but they turned out very well. The soup was done in literally 30 minutes. This one has now been written in my cookbook as a keeper!

Pink tweed
I purchased this Gap pink tweed suit way back in college on a Mock Trial trip. Yay for outlet malls! I wore it with a shawl collar creme sweater, black tights, and another Macy's purchase nude pumps by R2 with wee bows on them!
I took this by Holmes Lake here in Lincoln. We have had some lovely weather lately. It's so great to have a lot of green space in the middle of the city.

Basic Black with a Pop
This will be my last outfit post for a while. Today is my 'due date' but no sign of Baby T yet :( He is taking his time apparently! I am hoping that something will happen this week though so keep your fingers crossed for me. This dress is actually sleeveless but with the black top underneath it is hard to tell. The back is also open but I unfortunately didn't get a pic of that. I was tempted to wear my pjs out and about but couldn't in the end so I begrudgingly dressed up LoL!

Plaid and Pearls
I love that plaid is preppy enough for pearls. The Atlantic-Pacific blog did it pretty well here.
I did my own version with a pink and white J. Crew plaid shirt and polo sweater. I added a jacket for work that I purchased recently at a Nordstrom Rack store. Those places are dangerous!

Bundle Up!
I had my final doctor appointment today unless I go over my due date by a week! I thought I would post a couple different outfits since I'm not sure how often I will be posting in the next few weeks. The baby's room is all finished (except for a wall decal I am still hunting for) and we're just waiting on him to arrive now :D As you can see, it has become quite cold here and it's now necessary for me to bundle up! Neither of these dresses are maternity wear and I think I have just reached the point where I am too big to wear them...luckily I won't have to be worried about that for much longer!

LBB
I know that a lot of ladies talk about their little black dress with some pride. I have never had a "little black dress" that was my go-to clothes item. I think I might have found a good contender though at the after Christmas sales at Macy's. I have missed Macy's SOO much. We don't have one in Lincoln. We didn't in Wichita either. This particular dress is by ____ and has pockets and a saucy gold exposed zipper.
I wore it with a black and white plaid button down, black Calvin Klein tights and Anne Klein boots.

Fabulous Friday
Once again, it is time to play "Give it a Miss, Give it a Go or Give it to Me" where I'll post pics of celeb outfits and you can tell me whether you wouldn't wear it (give it a miss), like it and might wear it (give it a go) or love it and want it (give it to me).
Here are this week's contenders...Kirsten Dunst & Emma Stone! All pics taken from Go Fug Yourself and you should check out that site too for some very witty stuff!
So, what do you think?

Colored Jeans
I love skinny jeans in boots, so when I saw brightly colored jeans coming out I was excited! However, the first ones I fell in love with at J. Crew were just out of my budget. I can't wear jeans to work on a normal basis, so I have a hard time spending very much on them. Finally, I found some on sale at Old Navy for $8.00!!! My waiting really paid off this time. I found some cobalt blue "Rocket" brand skinny jeans from Old Navy. I wore them the other day with a black turtle neck and black boots. Shea Babe actually has the same kind of boot! She bought them first though ;).
I wore this outfit for a nice dinner at an Italian restaurant in Lincoln called Vicenzo's. They had the most amazing veal Parmesan!

The Final Countdown
Well, I am one week away from my expected due date! I don't know how much I will be able to post in the next several weeks but I'll do my best. I certainly won't have many exciting outfits to show off as I've been lazing around in my pjs all day nearly everyday. I hope you enjoy these last few fashionable posts though! I think I really look good in these pics and again, the top is not maternity but the jeans are. Enjoy your Wednesday!
Top: Charlotte Russe, Jeans: Debenhams, Shoes: Steve Madden
And just to make your Wednesday a little more kick ass...

Mellow ruffles
Do mellow yellow ruffles seem less frilly? I'm not sure. I have really embraced ruffles over the last year or two. I wore a J. Crew ruffled silk sleeveless blouse with an Express animal print sweater over the top. I loved the preppy look with a twist that the animal print brought. I wore brown slacks and tan Ralph Lauren loafers.

Dressing more creatively & Suited up with ruffles
Installment 2 of old ladies with style, here is the ladies' advice on dressing more creatively! I love it! There really are practical tips. Wear a bright colored shoe instead of brown or black. Wear a scarf or two!
On to my outfit! I loved softening up a suit I wore lately with some ruffles. I wore a silk J. Crew ruffled sleevless blouse with a black Express sweater to make the look more weather appropriate. This is a BCBG suit. I purchased all of these items on ebay!

Style as you age & Re-purposing summer clothes
I came across the funniest video on youtube! Ok, actually Kim Kardashian had a link to it on Facebook. Yes, I'm angry with her for making marriage look like a mockary with her 72 day "marriage". But this video was great! It's all about old ladies in NYC who are super stylish!
This video makes me really look forward to dressing when I'm older! I will get to wear whatever I want! I love the ladies' parting wisdom, "Young women, you're going to be an old woman some day. Don't worry about it.....every era builds character." My job as an attorney definitely keeps me from wearing some of the crazy/creative outfits I would love to. There are some definite benefits to getting old!
Now to my outfit....

I am a huge fan of a good bargain. Often that means buying clothes in the "off season". I bought this sweet little blouse at Kohl's not long ago. I couldn't wait to put it to use, so I wore it with a black Mossimo Turtleneck and Victoria's Secret straight leg pans.

Mustard and Grey
Eeeek! Another dark photo in my kitchen doorway. I must apologise again for this. It's just that by the time I remember to take the pics for my posts, it was dark out already and I had some laundry on the clotheshorse drying in the usual place I pose. So, that coupled with my not-so-fantastic camera results in this. The cardigan is the same style as the red one from my last pic but in a mustard yellow which is a colour I like but in small amounts. You can't see it too well but the shirt is grey and black with an animal print and although it looks like it, it is not maternity wear!

Royal Purple
Being a serious KU Jayhawk fan I had quite an aversion to Royal Purple (the color of our rival K-State). Alas, the color has grown on me! I wore a Pendelton wool short jacket with a royal purple dress from Macy's and black Ann Klein boots. I guess I might have to compromise on the whole serious KU fan thing. I now live in Lincoln, Nebraska which is where the University of Nebraska Huskers are seriously revered. I even received my first bedazzled Husker's shirt for Christmas! I will remind other KU fans, that I can still root for KU and the Huskers - they are in different conferences now!
I apologize for my extended absence! My lovely husband left my laptop plugged in in my parent's dining room, so they had to send it to me! I hope that everyone had a Merry Christmas/Holiday of your choosing and a great New Year ahead!
