Black and Yellow Casual

For a casual day at work I wore a black sweater from Dunnes and a yellow and black sundress.  This was a pretty comfy look.  I wish that businesses and people would stop using so much air conditioning in the summer! If you dress for the hot weather you freeze when inside.  I always have to add a sweater or jacket to my ensemble to be comfortable.  My shoes are black T-strap Sofft pumps.

Pretty in ALL Pink

The other day I decided to brighten things up by wearing a pink tweed Gap Jacket with a ruffled pink print dress.  I wore nude pumps with bow son them.

Foxy Print

I brought the fox print dress out again even though I haven't sewn the two layers together to keep it from crawling up...that isn't a fun thing to discover halfway through your walk into town!! Oops! Good thing I was wearing leggings under it! I was actually able to leave my hair down for most of the day. It is a rare thing lately thanks to my son :/ And I was able to get back into my blazer that I sort of shrunk so yay!

Fabulous Friday

Once again, it is time to play "Give it a Miss, Give it a Go or Give it to Me" where I'll post pics of celeb outfits and you can tell me whether you wouldn't wear it (give it a miss), like it and might wear it (give it a go) or love it and want it (give it to me).

Here is this week's contender...Diane Kruger. All pics taken from GoFugYourself and you should check out that site too...very funny and witty stuff!
So, what do you think?

Do you suppose she's a wildflower?

This is me messing around in the garden with camera angles. As you can see, the foxglove looks HUGE which is where the title of the post came from. I sort of felt like it was a 'Wonderland' moment when I looked back through my photos. This is another casual outfit. I think this tank dress is really too tight to wear out anywhere..maybe once I lose some weight I'll consider it again. The weather here lately has been shockingly bad. Where's our summer??!

Trapeze Top

This was just a casual outfit to lounge around the house in. And by 'lounge' I mean meet the demands of my little milk monster :D I think that this probably needed heels to really look more styled but I couldn't be bothered wearing them when I was just sitting at home! The weather was unusually humid (crazy!) so that's why I actually didn't need a cardigan over this top.

Horizontal Stripes...Hmm...

So, as I have mentioned before, I have a love/hate relationship with horizontal stripes. I really love the way they look (nautical, classic, clean, etc) but feel that I usually look bigger when I wear them. This is why I try to have just a small strip of stripes (say that 5 times fast!) which I think helps to cut out the extra 'weight' that appears when wearing only a striped top. This particular top only cost me 1 euro and it's a longer length so it's getting a lot of wear. I don't wear bootcut jeans a lot because I think they make me look shorter and I certainly don't need that...I don't mind looking tiny sometimes though, I'm travel-sized!

Déjà Blue

Here's that cobalt blue top again! This time it's paired with boots and the pic is at night (so it's not great, sorry!). I really liked this outfit. It was comfy yet stylish and I felt the flowy top with skinny jeans really worked. I realise I still haven't posted a pic of the same style top in a different colour that I said I's coming I promise! Happy Wednesday!!

Dinner and a New Dress

This cute little number is from New Look. It's so light and comfy yet so vintage feeling and sweet at the same time! I wanted to wear no jacket and bare legs but the weather wasn't really cooperating with me. Oh well, maybe next time! As a side note, my hair looked much better in person! I wore this to dinner with three friends from my MSW course. It was great to catch up with them! I washed this blazer the next day and I think I might have shrunk it which makes me quite sad...hope I can stretch it back out :/

How does your garden grow?

In a departure from our normal programming, I have decided to do a post about  my garden.  I have always wanted a large garden.  We purchased a new home recently which is on a bit of land.  I have finally gotten my wish.  My garden started out looking like this in April:

Here are the tomatoes in May.

Then my wee sugar snap peas coming up in May!

And is now looking like this:

These are red onions starting to sprout!

These are butternut squash plants.  I planted some seeds in the ground that I got from a seed exchange here in Lincoln.  Apparently these squash can be kept in a cool dark place for more than 6 months!

Here are some of my herbs.  You can see the dill, some flowers to attract bees for pollination, and lavender.

Here you can see my basil and out of control cilantro!  The cilantro plans is about 2 - 3 feet tall now.

Here's some wee strawberries.  The birds keep eating my strawberries :(.  Maybe these ones will make it.

The sugar snap peas are climbing away!

Here are my pepper plants growing up!

One even has a baby orange pepper growing!  Apparently they turn orange once you take them off the plant.

Last but not least are my tomatoes!  I have several wee tomatoes growing.

Foxy Lady

I forgot to take this during the day so unfortunately it's a night pic and not a great one...but you can see the outfit pretty well! This is a new purchase from and I had been watching it on the site for a while waiting for it to go on sale. It came with the brown braided belt. The foxes are a pale pink colour and it is a really comfy little dress...I'm really happy I got it!

Jazz in June

Each Tuesday in June there is a super fun Jazz concert that is open to the public.   The concert series is called "Jazz in June".  It is held at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln's campus.  There were a TON of people there on the 5th of June.  There are a lot of fun large sculptures on the campus.

The agriculture students made ice cream to sell!

There were a TON of people there.

Here's what I wore.  I sundress via ebay, aviators, and bedazzled Kenneth Cole sandals.  Sorry my sister-in-law missed the sandals.  Some people just don't get outfit photos ;).

The Sheldon Museum of Art that is on campus was also open for viewing.  I LOVED this sculpture.  I took this picture before I found out that taking photos of the art is ILLEGAL :o).

There were even random people doing couples yoga amidst the crowd!

Stormchasers' Game

My  husband and I attended a baseball game last weekend with the Nebraska Women's Bar Association and watched the Omaha Stormchasers play the Des Moines Cubs.  Apparently the Storm Chasers are actually the feeder team for the Kansas City Royals!  It was a pretty good time aside from the showers at the beginning of the game. I forgot to take my camera, so husband took a pic when we got home!

I wore a shirt from Maurices, Express Jeans, and Reebok tennis shoes.

Horizontal stripes...yay or nay?

I have been loving the stripes I see everyone wearing lately.  I found this light knit top at Loft and wanted to give it a try.  I'm afraid it is not very flattering though! I wore it with a Premier necklace with brightly colored glass beads for our last casual Friday.  What do you think?  Also, my puppy Pistol snuck in the picture to say hello!

Fabulous Friday

Something a little different this Friday. The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest was last week. Ireland did not do as well as last year :( but at least there were actually some pretty good songs this time around. Gofugyourself has made up a great piece about the fashion on the nite! Check it out...and here are some of my favourite songs from this year!
Denmark (which scored very poorly...don't know why?!)

Moldova (purely for the awesome robot-girl back up dancers!)

Greece (pretty catchy dance tune..a lot like 'Secret Combination' from 2008 Eurovision)

Sweden (this one won...I think there were better songs and her 'performance' was odd)

Ireland (Jedward were back this year...didn't like the song as much as last year and apparently neither did the voters...only got 19th place!)

Hungary (really liked this...again not sure why it didn't do better!)

Turkey (this was good fun...thought it would do well and it got 7th)

Italy (kinda Amy Winehouse/Imelda May...also quite catchy!)

Malta (check out these sweet dance moves!)

Slovakia (did not even qualify...this was 80s hair metal deliciousness!)

The Netherlands (also did not qualify...sort of Cher/Katy Perry singer wearing gigantic Indian

I hope you enjoy the tunes! xx
