Dinner and a New Dress

This cute little number is from New Look. It's so light and comfy yet so vintage feeling and sweet at the same time! I wanted to wear no jacket and bare legs but the weather wasn't really cooperating with me. Oh well, maybe next time! As a side note, my hair looked much better in person! I wore this to dinner with three friends from my MSW course. It was great to catch up with them! I washed this blazer the next day and I think I might have shrunk it which makes me quite sad...hope I can stretch it back out :/

How does your garden grow?

In a departure from our normal programming, I have decided to do a post about  my garden.  I have always wanted a large garden.  We purchased a new home recently which is on a bit of land.  I have finally gotten my wish.  My garden started out looking like this in April:

Here are the tomatoes in May.

Then my wee sugar snap peas coming up in May!

And is now looking like this:

These are red onions starting to sprout!

These are butternut squash plants.  I planted some seeds in the ground that I got from a seed exchange here in Lincoln.  Apparently these squash can be kept in a cool dark place for more than 6 months!

Here are some of my herbs.  You can see the dill, some flowers to attract bees for pollination, and lavender. 

Here you can see my basil and out of control cilantro!  The cilantro plans is about 2 - 3 feet tall now.

Here's some wee strawberries.  The birds keep eating my strawberries :(.  Maybe these ones will make it.

The sugar snap peas are climbing away!

Here are my pepper plants growing up!

One even has a baby orange pepper growing!  Apparently they turn orange once you take them off the plant.

Last but not least are my tomatoes!  I have several wee tomatoes growing. 

Foxy Lady

I forgot to take this during the day so unfortunately it's a night pic and not a great one...but you can see the outfit pretty well! This is a new purchase from iclothing.ie and I had been watching it on the site for a while waiting for it to go on sale. It came with the brown braided belt. The foxes are a pale pink colour and it is a really comfy little dress...I'm really happy I got it!

Jazz in June

Each Tuesday in June there is a super fun Jazz concert that is open to the public.   The concert series is called "Jazz in June".  It is held at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln's campus.  There were a TON of people there on the 5th of June.  There are a lot of fun large sculptures on the campus.

Here's what I wore.  I sundress via ebay, aviators, and bedazzled Kenneth Cole sandals.  Sorry my sister-in-law missed the sandals.  Some people just don't get outfit photos ;).

The Sheldon Museum of Art that is on campus was also open for viewing.  I LOVED this sculpture.  I took this picture before I found out that taking photos of the art is ILLEGAL :o).

There were even random people doing couples yoga amidst the crowd!

Stormchasers' Game

My  husband and I attended a baseball game last weekend with the Nebraska Women's Bar Association and watched the Omaha Stormchasers play the Des Moines Cubs.  Apparently the Storm Chasers are actually the feeder team for the Kansas City Royals!  It was a pretty good time aside from the showers at the beginning of the game. I forgot to take my camera, so husband took a pic when we got home!

I wore a shirt from Maurices, Express Jeans, and Reebok tennis shoes.

Horizontal stripes...yay or nay?

I have been loving the stripes I see everyone wearing lately.  I found this light knit top at Loft and wanted to give it a try.  I'm afraid it is not very flattering though! I wore it with a Premier necklace with brightly colored glass beads for our last casual Friday.  What do you think?  Also, my puppy Pistol snuck in the picture to say hello!  

Fabulous Friday

Something a little different this Friday. The 2012 Eurovision Song Contest was last week. Ireland did not do as well as last year :( but at least there were actually some pretty good songs this time around. Gofugyourself has made up a great piece about the fashion on the nite! Check it out...and here are some of my favourite songs from this year!

Denmark (which scored very poorly...don't know why?!)

Moldova (purely for the awesome robot-girl back up dancers!)

Greece (pretty catchy dance tune..a lot like 'Secret Combination' from 2008 Eurovision)

Sweden (this one won...I think there were better songs and her 'performance' was odd)

Ireland (Jedward were back this year...didn't like the song as much as last year and apparently neither did the voters...only got 19th place!)

Hungary (really liked this...again not sure why it didn't do better!)

Turkey (this was good fun...thought it would do well and it got 7th)

Italy (kinda Amy Winehouse/Imelda May...also quite catchy!)

Malta (check out these sweet dance moves!)

Slovakia (did not even qualify...this was 80s hair metal deliciousness!)

The Netherlands (also did not qualify...sort of Cher/Katy Perry singer wearing gigantic Indian headdress..hm...)
