Awkward & Awesome Thursday

Sydney from The Daybook hosts Awkward & Awesome Thursdays.  It's a great blog that you should definitely check out.

Awkward

1. Having my hair blow in my face while trying to take pictures!

2. Having to tell clients that I need to look into the law on an issue.  I hope someday I am able to do that less often.

3. Family arguments.  Drama is so lame!

4. Spring allergies.  I am not a fan of being woken up at 3:30 a.m. by a runny nose.

Awesome

1.  The weekend!  Joshy and I are traveling to the exciting Omaha, Nebraska for the Annual Shareholder Meeting of Berkshire Hathaway.  Hopefully we will learn some of the genius of Warren Buffet and be able to invest wisely.  Also, we should get some awesome DQ Blizzards!  Berkshire has booths for each of the businesses that they own some part of.  

2.  Sweet mother-in-laws.  Joshy's parents came to town last weekend for Easter.  I am still eating the amazing food that she made for us.

3.  Spring!  I love the sunshine and warmth.  Being able to enjoy my backyard patio is fab.

Today I'm wearing a black Express blazer with an abstract print dress from Dillard's.  It's still a bit chilly here so I wore some black Talbot's tights and black Nine West pumps.  I just got some new accessories from Shea's etsy shop!  I love the jolly rancher bracelet and clear glass earrings with specs of color!

Vested

I have always been jealous that guys have so many more three-piece suit options.  Here is my attempt at the three piece suit (if you throw a jacket over this!  The brown vest and pants are tweed and by BCX (from Macy's).  The shirt is Gap.  Pearls and brooch are from Premier Jewelry. 

Bank Holiday

This weekend was a bit of a blur...and I think I'm still feeling sick from too many drinks on Friday night! It was my friend Ann-Marie's birthday so she had a house party because all the pubs were closed for Good Friday. It was an excellent night so feeling horrible all day Saturday was worth it I suppose. Vodka is evil though! Then, my friend Erin was in town from Japan so I had dinner that night. I was worried I wouldn't keep it down but luckily I had recovered enough by then! Since I was in such a sorry state for most of the weekend, I didn't take many pics of myself looking very fashionable aside from these two which were taken before my alcohol takeover. Oh and today (Monday) was a bank holiday so I had an extra long weekend to relax with hubbs and enjoy Easter eating chocolate...because even when you don't feel 100%, you'll always perk up for chocolate! :D

Easter Fashion

I hope that you all had a happy Easter!  I spent most of mine with my husband's family.  His parents came up from Liberal, Kansas.  Not that anyone is actually liberal....in Liberal.  Someone was kind to travelers and liberal with his water.

I decided to be daring and pair two patterns!  I had a blazer with creme and pink stripes similar to the colors in a Jones NY Dress.

We catholics also have service on Thursday and Friday night.  Here is what I wore on Friday night!  This is a dress by Chaps from Kohl's.  Apparently pearls and floral prints were my theme for the weekend.  I did not have a chance to do individual pics amidst all of the Easter celebration.  So this is Joshy my husband aka hubbs in these pics.

Comfy Casual

So I like this outfit because it is comfy even though the top from ASOS can sometimes look like maternity wear. My hair looked particularly good on this day...not sure why though! I didn't do anything different than I normally do. I was in a hurry to get into town and hubbs was teasing me about running late for my appointment but still taking time to take a picture of my outfit, hence the annoyed face! Oh and this is from earlier in the week...post coming to explain why!

Mellow Yellow - 100 posts

Today at 8pm I will officially be 26 years old!  I love surprises, so I have not opened my presents yet.  Also, Shea and I have posted on our blog 100 times as of today!!! What an exciting milestone!  You always hope to keep up with these things, and I'm so glad that we have.  

Contrary to the song "Mellow Yellow" I actually find yellow a very happy and lively color.  So I decided to wear my yellow J. Crew silk shell with my white blazer and striped pans by apostrophe via Sears. I wore my gold linen bandolino shoes to finish things off.  I'm so sad that the toes have started to show some wear.  They are linen though, so I'm not sure if my shoe-guy can fix them!

Because of the extreme ruffles going on I kept accessories to a minimum.  So I only wore my silver ball earrings.

Back to the Fashion

After the fashion free post last time, I'm back to putting up pics of my outfits. You will recognise the pieces from the first outfit since they were in my 30 for 30 remix. I added a brown belt to spice it up. I think the layers resulted in me losing the definition of my waist slightly so perhaps a less chunky dress/cardigan combo next time!

I just love this dress! It was a bargain find again from Dunnes at only 20 euros. It is really comfortable to wear and I like the black detailing poking out from the hem and the hook & eye closure up the top.

Pearl Goodness

I love pearls!  I've been in quite the mood lately.  I wore a Ralph Lauren dress from Kohl's.

I let the pearls take the day off.  I wore express pants with an Apt. 9 shirt from Kohl's.  I love the back!

I wore a Ralph Lauren blazer with an argyle sweater from Target and khaki pants from Dillard's.  

I'm getting a haircut on Wednesday!  Just a trim, but it's fun all the same.  I think my hair needs a bit more shape.  I'm going for something like this:

Road Tripping!

I realise I have been silent since Friday (tomorrow is Saturday and Sunday come afterwards...sorry couldn't resist the reference lol) but I have a good reason. I went on a road trip to Kilkenny with Michelle and Gosia for the weekend!! Here are a few of the pics I snapped :D

We had such an AMAZING time. I was very excited I managed to get there without getting lost (first time driving such a distance in my car with no navigational help from my direction savvy hubbs). We got quite drunk Saturday night and played charades which is even more entertaining with a room full of intoxicated people! All and all, a fantastic trip and we'll defo be making another one soon! Sorry for the lack of fashion in this post...enjoy the scenic eye candy though :D

Lioness

Last week I wanted some exciting texture.  I think this jacket is a bit for cooler temperatures.  So I wanted to wear it before it got too cold!.  This is an Antonio Melani brown dress with Antonio Melani suit jacket.  Scarpasa shoes.  The only accessories are my pearl earrings from Joshy.  I'm not sure where he got them from.  I like this jacket on the hanger, sometimes I think I look like a lion with a mane when I wear it though!  I wore it with my brown lizard look shoes from Scarpasa.

Californ-I-A

Joshy and I made the trip to California for a long weekend.  The first night it was quite chilly!  I expected warm weather.  But it was only in the 50s.  So I wore an infinity scarf that Shea made!  I paired it with a cardigan from Pennys in Ireland, a J. Crew Tee Shirt and Mossimo Skinny jeans.  We sent to see a Jazz act at the Baked Potato Jazz Club.  The only food they serve are 5 pound baked potatoes!

I also wore the Penny's cardigan to Disney Land and California Adventures.  I also wore a the Penny's cardigan with a blouse from Apt. 9 I found at Kohl's.

California Adventures has some construction going on.  They  had cute pictures of Disney toons all over.  We found one that looks like our puppy Pistol!  

On Sunday  I wore a the Penny's cardigan again with a sundress from Myan and Forever 21 leggings.

I saw this amazing art piece at Santa Monica Pier that they can use to put cool designs on the sand.
